System failure in the subway

The water poured right down the stair--
Of rained-soaked shoes, I had my share.
In subway car, I sit and stare
The train's not going anywhere

There's flooding in the station ahead
The electric power there is probably dead
"Don't know when I'll be in," I said
I might as well be back in bed


I got to work just short of noon
The thunderstorms won't vanish soon
It's s'posed to pour tomorrow, too
The subway ride should be a zoo
